Hello,

I work on the railway and my boss has told me today that i need orange hi viz chainsaw trousers, I said buy orange Stretch airs, Now, hes been on to a supplier and he says that SIP do hi viz chainsaw trousers that are as light weight as stretch air but lots cheaper.

Has anybody used the SIP trousers??? Any good???

I have had a few pair of stretch air and cant fault them but ive never had the SIP ones, Is my boss trying to pull the wool over my eyes to save a few quid?? Or are the sip ones as good as Stretch airs??

Many thanks

Hi Moz

I've had SIP and Stretch Air both in Type C (all-round protection). All-round protection kind of makes Stretch Air not stretch so loose this benefit. Both are good trousers, 'Airs perhaps harder wearing but zip-fly broke early on, SIP cheaper but still good quality and not in the same league as much cheaper trousers. I'm currently wearing Husky's new-ish Type Cs which look and feel as durable as wet tissue paper but have lasted well on domestic tree surgery...I'm guessing Track clearance is a little tougher on trousers.

Thanks for the reply Ben, Yeah, Track work does take its tole on pants, Spent many an hour trying to walk my way threw bramble and thorn!! Trousers did seem to last much longer when i was doing private/domestic work.

I think im gonna go for the 'Airs, Stick to what i know, Maybe give the SIP ones a go in the future!

What type of SIP are they? I have the ultrafit type C and they are pants to say the least  I think the freedom ones are supposed to be better, the ones with the protection round the back of the calf, sort of type A with a bit more protection.

Im not sure what type of SIP they are but my boss has just rang me, Ive asked for the stretch airs as the trousers he's buying have to be type C so i went for the stretch air as ive had a few pairs and there pretty good!!

how does mate,

stretch airs are much better than the sip orange, another pair that you may want to look at is the windsor trou (w m clarke)there're a lot cheaper than even the sip and personally think there a better fit.the sip do not stretch at all, if they were same style/make as freedoms they would have been excellent.

we got all 3 makes, some boys prefer sip, some the windsor, most prefer the stretch airs so gave everyone the choice but they would have to pay the difference with the stetch air, some did choose to pay extra most didnt. maybe worth offering your boss to pay the extra.

I've got the Stretch Airs in orange for £190.00 + VAT at the mo in all sizes and we have the Francital hi vis (orange) trousers for £97.00 + VAT

Hope this is of some help.

Cheers Jonesie, I did mention your name as a supplier earlier to my boss, Was hoping to get you some bussiness but he said he's already got an account with Buxtons, I told him you'd be cheaper but he didnt seem interested, If any other orders come up at a later date, ill mention you again.

Cheers for the advice sawmonkey, I have requested Stretch airs, So hopefully thats what ill get mate!! :001_cool:
