Both Tony both:lol::001_tt2::lol:

Seriously though, once a report includes a basic id error it undermines the whole thing. To my mind, wording such as a row of evergreen trees, conifers or such like would have been sufficient in the context of the eco survey, instead of trying to appear knowledgeable and failing, it reduces credibility.

I think this is why a lot of the bigger consultancy firms have arborists and ecologists on the staff or sub-contract in; works as a kind checks and balances system ie if an ecologist isn't sure about a tree id then give the arborist a bell and vice versa with regards to flora and fauna.

It depends on the scope of the survey. If it was an ecologist who has made a passing comment on trees then i really wouldn't be that concerned. They may even be a caveat in the limitations section of the report.

If it's a development site then you will be getting a BS5837 survey done as well no?

I don't know much about these things but having had an ecology report done on some potential development land, the report mentions some Lawsons Cypress along one of the boundaries.

These are 80'+ leylandii and possibly a hundred of them.

What would you make of that mistake considering you just paid for this service?

Or is it so insignificant I am being nit picking for even asking you?

Just struck me as a bit odd to make the mistake, typo maybe.

Its an ecology report not a tree survey!!!!

That's what I thought.

He said there were no newts so that's all I really wanted to hear. :D

As long as he did not follow it up with a recommendation for full mitigation measures - including a licenced "newt mover" on site - which is what our ecologist did you are in good shape!
