New 130 Defender

Well that's the new 130 chassis cab arrived and is now sitting in the dealers. After numerous issued with IVA and everything else it will be going to get the tipper body fitted which is going to be removable and replaceable with a demountable gritter body and then the snow plough will be fitted on the front. Such a long drawn out process but looks like it is going to be worth it!!

And the rest, I looked at a 130 crew cab chassis can and it was 28 plus vat and a body.

With more 'brains' and other electrical tomfoolery than a space shuttle can't see much longevity without problems. Td5's are bad enough!

Tdci is not really any more complex or technical than the Td5 and the electrical bits are every bit as reliable. The weaknesses with the Puma Defender mostly come from the changes needed to fit the Ford engine and box in, eg the gearbox adaptor shaft failure problem.

I hope that buying new should make it last a bit longer. Did think about a td5 130 and refurbishment but I wanted a new toy. Already have a 110 double cab that has been the most reliable car ever.

Wouldnt touch a newer engined model myself after hearing a few horror stories...
