I know (or I think I know :blushing:) that PNW stands for Pacific North West, but what does HO stand for?

Do you do much of the way of processing with these saws or just use them purely for felling? I could see a 3/4 wrap handle coming in very handy when felling, but then, I normally want to turn the saw to doing a bit of processing too - although not too much with the likes of a 395. Just wondering what the trade off is like?

High output.

Cross cutting is not affected . The only thing that can be a problem , albeit a small one , is you cant fell really tight to the ground .

The good thing is even with a long bar , when you set the saw down it keep[s the cutters off the deck . :001_smile:

Good man, obvious once its pointed out! :thumbup1:

If I'm thinking of getting a wrap handle, what's best - full or 3/4?

That's the same meaning, 3/4 and full! But it depends on what saw, the Stihl chainsaws come with 2 different wraps, husky just has the full side.

Stubby, I don't see leaving higher stumps as a problem, it means people can't muller the chain going too low!

Not a problem for me either though some sites insist on it

I have a full wrap like that on my 395 and whats left of that yellow label says " PRO SAFETY HANDLE " if that helps .

That's the one. I liked the ones I have seen on the old 288's and the 266's. I sort of have a soft spot for hot 266's with full wraps. My first husky was a 266xp.

I think the largest drawback isn't stump height - it's the fact you have to trim the roots and buttresses some times simply to get the face done or the back cut done.
