Best Dirty Water Pump

If it was me I would be looking at a small petrol trash pump, dearer but will have a much bigger flow rate for if you need it and you can slow the revs to match the output of whats flowing in.

problem with most of the small petrol pumps is they need to be primed every time they run out of water whereas a submersible with a float switch can be switched on and left to its own devices

proper trash pumps don't need priming

When you say "trash pumps" do you mean reciprocating pumps, these do not need priming.

H-A

Those are self priming but generally not a great flow rate, the cone impeller ones from honda and wacker have decent flows and self priming, admittedly they are pricey but I would worry about running electric pumps in a flood situation.

We found that if you have to start putting head on the cheaper submersibles they don't like it, the flow rates drop dramatically and they become quite unreliable, but I doubt head would be a problem in this situation.

Although I am high up if I have problems I have this to fall back on :)

By trash, i meant sewage.

Submersible pump.

So i had this pump,

Problem with it was if a stone got stuck in the cutter, it would jamb it, and burn the motor out.

I gave it to someone for a sot, explained the whole stone thing to them, and got it handed back to me buggered

Just looking for a good all round pump, that will handle 99% of situations, that wont give me any bother.
