My Husky 545 will run the thick Oregon mulching blades ( turned down ends) and 4.0mm square line ( no guard ) to a longer length than you could achieve with a guard .

Cheers for all the input from everyone! so basically a husky 545 or stihl fs460 will serve me well? are the harnesses any better on the stihl or husky?

I think the harness that comes with the husky is better than the sthil but you can get a beefed up harness for about £50 or £20 on eBay.

Still fs410 with shredder blade works excellent, like the look of those triple oregon blades though

I am a big stihl fan so this goes against the grain for me, but I would go with a husky harness.

my husky 555rxt destroys brambles nettles thistles un wanted saplings etc. with no problems!!!!

the harness is really comfy & distributes the weight nicely!

I use the Stihl FS 460 with the mulching head, brilliant bit of kit would not be without it, I have not tried the Huskeys. Nice and comfy I do use all day in the summer is quite heavy but nicely balanced.

stihl fs460 for me! done a lot of work with it in the last year and hasn't missed a beet. I find the stihl harness very comfortable and have no problem running it all day long
