Birch as firewood

I know it needs to be stored under cover before it deteriorates but is it OK as firewood ? Thanks

the birch bark is good too for starting your fire good stuff you cant have too much birch

Great for burning, smoke smells good to. Up here in the west coast birch and alder also ,grow everywhere and don`t take long to dry once split. Ideal if you`re feedin a small stove. cheers

Really nice firewood, burns quite quick but hot. Leaving the logs a little chunkier helps make it last a bit better though.

 

Does tend to go mouldy very quickly thugh if kept too airtight.

Yes,and of course it makes lovely kindling.

When properly dry it makes a great firewood with a fabulous flame picture if burnt in a decent stove.

 

The MD of one of the UK stove manufacturers told me that most of the stove makers use birch when they do brochure photo shoots because the flame picture looks so good.
