Which (compact?) tractor, to do everything on a smallholding?

Don't forget the Dexta - does everything a 3cylinder 35 does but cheaper and sounds better! Dexta was first with the 3 cylinder and has better hydraulics.

 

And don't forget that Fergies were designed by Ford!

bit pf a time to go but jacobs and hunt have a large farm sale in april first saturday at west meon nr winchester. nr you in march southern auctions shaftsbury loads go for sale need a half day befre sale to have a good gander and see whats in your budget. if any that one would be the one but take someone who knows tractors to give those interested in a good looking over as there are some duffs in sale

 

There's no hurry, as I said it's early days - so I'll definitely try and get to Shaftesbury. Thanks.

For what its worth, my dad has been running zetors for 30 years, they are incredibly basic yet bombproof tractors. I have had two zetors myself and again both give very little bother and can stand a lot of abuse. Only downside is the shoddy dry brakes on the older ones that would be within your budget.

Too much choice! Carpenter, which of yours do you prefer and why? I'll go and look at zetors and john Deere's and try and get hold of a copy of tractor and machinery magazine too...
