The tef 20 only really gets used for linkbox jobs, and light trailer work. And match ploughing. The david brown 770, used for baling, and lighter and normal road work, as its faster on the road than the others. And has 12 forward gears.

The 35, which has a 135 engine, log splitting, heavy trailer work, mowing grass, turning hay, heavy road work, up to about 4 tons in trailer.

If I could only have one its the 35 with the 135 engine, I bought all mine for under £1000, have done them all up a bit. Lick of paint, and a few parts hear and there. Oh and the engine for the 35. Its good having a brother working for an agricultural engineering company, so parts at there cost price:thumbup:

Will dig a pic out of them all if any one wants

little tractor in my avatar will do all you've mentioned in your original post??

same as a Kubota really, 4wd - 25hp - front arms - pto & 3 pt linkage - get one with arms for a couple of grand, only thing you wouldn't get at that money is the back actor ... plus can move on a trailer if needed :001_smile:

Carrying things (loader / bucket) / towing a trailer

Running a log splitter / saw bench (so I guess a PTO and 3 point linkage would be needed)

Mower / topper

Harrowing / rotavating (reasonable horsepower needed)

Extracting felled wood? (Winch, or just driving compact tractor between trees)

Post knocker? (Probably not essential, but could be useful)

Digging holes?

Anything else that springs to mind!

well mines a Ferrari but these were an off the shelf tractor so to speak, it is however pretty identical to the small Kubota tractors.. i think mines rated at 500kg lift on the front arms, the only thing you've mentioned above that really needs any horse power is rotorvating but assuming you get implements of a compatible size to the tractor it will be fine..

also if your looking at them try to get one with a decent selection of gears to ensure you can always find a nice work speed..

after having a better read of the previous posts i think befor making any form of decision your really going to have to know a bit more of what your going to be asking of it, a little Kubota and the similar compacts are built as a handy small machine..

they do all what you've mentioned but if you end up with 3 ton trees to pull and 10acres of grass then a compacts going to be pants

if your looking for a real work tractor to take some stick then the larger built higher hp rated tractors that have been mentioned are definatley the way to go..
