Used my Spud ported 346 today ( done a few years back now ) with its recently added Spuderisd sticker ! Now we are cookin' :biggrin:

 

Aw bugger Andy, now you have opened the flood gates....do you want to know how much those things cost me:001_rolleyes::lol:

Been porting a MS660 today, got the degree wheel on it and it is surprising the difference in the timing figures to the older 066/064. Around 5 degrees extra inlet, a lot more on the exhaust giving more compression and a lower power-band.

 

The saw had a high blow-down figure of 28 degrees and set about re-profiling the roof of the exhaust port so the blow-down figure could be lowered which I did to 22 degrees. The exhaust and inlet timing were left the same and opened up the lower transfers as normal.

 

I did a big muffler mod as I couldn't get hold of a dual port muffler cover. It ended up as a nice job on a very decent saw.

Just for the record, do you have a price list for porting a range of saws?

 

In addition, how do you price up rebuilds as we have a few saws here that need just that, including a MS200, a 346xp and a 357xp? Thanks

Yes, I would like to get my 372xp spudded to the hilt and if you could pm me a rough idea of costs it would be mega 🎯

 

Hope that is the earlier model (non Xtorq) Have PMed you the costs and use the Ported cost in my PM for this saw!

 

It is one of the best and can now say that you will get at least 30% improvement in cut speed!

I have done the full monty on the 560xp including pop up piston and it is still running around 18 months later!

It just has a habit of eating starter paws more than 560's usually do as there's to much compression!! , lucky to get 30 hours out of one. [ATTACH]199579[/ATTACH]

Auto tune is a bit lumpy on this saw but its been rebuilt a few times and its a very early saw so I don't think it's the port work, in all it's an animal and pretty frightening freshly sharpened with an edge off the rakers

 

Was working with a chap last week and he has an early 560xp... he also has the same problem with the starter mechanism breaking & I believe he uses the decompression valve but it still breaks.

It was all repaired/ replaced by a main dealer (at the users expense) but the same problem keeps occurring.... so doesn't seem like Husky have bothered to come up with a stronger modification.

 

Apparently the starter mechanism is classed as a "user replaceable/ serviceable part".... which I think is a pretty poor cop out.... yeah, fair enough for the starter cord, but not all the rest of the components!
