Hi jon. Its is mainly ash and sycamore and splitting for firewood (1m long billets). Tried high lifts but don't really want to trash them. Rather save the high lifts for felling so looking for something a bit more bombproof. Wondered if the bahco twisted ones were any good.

HI MATE like johny just said you need hydraulic how many tons are you going to split some ash is a night mere to split thanks jon

Id love a hydraulic one! but at the moment I have no vehicle access to woods til dry weather kicks in so has tobe done manually. Its only 15-20 tonnes to split.

Ive managed to split about 20 ton of oak with a maul and a roughneck wood grenade. But if the wood isn't straight then it becomes bit of a nightmare.

I've got some similar to that collected from farm sales of the years, split some 8ft lengths of pop with them other year works ok if is fairly knot free
