slime dried on chain

Has anyone else found when cutting Ash that they get a big build up of green slime on the chain which seems to bake on when cutting? Done a lot of wet ash after the storm and my chains are hanging now. Scraped it off my 13" and it took a fair while, dreading doing the 28":sneaky2:

 

Any ideas on an easy removal/fix?

Hot soapy water, then a dip in a oil bath.

 

If not a wire brush

Just cut some wood other than Ash, it will soon come clean.

 

Ash and dead would cause this build up due to low water content.

Put the chains in a 40 degree echo was followed by a light tumble dry . Hang carefully somewhere warm so as not to crease . ..........

ive had a chainsaw from someone before that were cakes in tried cutting some beach but it did nothing! so in the end i had to soke them in 2t mix overnight and a quick wire brush sharpen and soak in oil! thats what happens when someone goes out and buys a saw and doesn't know there's a oil tank!!! "ive never had it happen to e before and ive been using chainsaws for years"! brnd new b&q special! with maybe 3/4 tank through it!

I have never even considered cleaning a chain, even 25years ago when I started felling dead Elms for fuel.
