I've just a call from one of the guys at the LA, to see if I'm available if needed over the next few days, I've made no promises, but said I'll help if I can.

Same here, i had a call this Morning from the Parks/Woodland Officer from our area Wildlife Trust (Which im a Volunteer Warden For) If needs be i will probably go out over the next few days. Lots of people walk our local Woodlands/Parks on Christmas/Boxing day.

Surely it's a question of supply and demand?

As most people want to be off for christmas, the supply of tree-surgeons is limited so the price is high (as high as you like really, there is always somebody else they could phone)

In my opinion to compare this to a disaster situation where supply is normal but demand is exceptionally high due to nature having a hissy fit is like comparing eggs to airplanes.

I have just responded to a council calling me out, the high street christmas tree was becoming a danger to shoppers, had to climb it to remove the lights & leccy cable, then dismantle the thing.

I got some pointed remarks from a few passers by about early removal of the tree, & that's an understatement!

I don't intend to hurt them on my invoice, as I had so much fun!

A quick pic at the wobbly top!

It's when some knobber ties your rope to the bottom of the tree that you have to worry!

Had that sorted, spikes & flip line!:laugh1:

Yes it was Daniel, lights were a pain, all zip tied to the outer tips, they put them up with a mewp. ;)

My dad said a good thing earlier...

It's acceptable for TS's to charge high rates whilst doing emergency jobs and on Xmas day etc because if someone broke day the AA/RAC etc are going to charge you a bomb! It's pretty much the same concept!!

Nope! My brother is a partner in a big recovery company, they do a lot of work for the AA, RAC and Green flag. If your a member of any of the above or call them from the roadside the price is the same all year round.
