I am sure if asked the people of the UK would and could pull together in times of emergencies As for your last question I carry my own health and medical insurance, over here it's not a right, it's a personnel responsibility . O BTW when I travel to the UK I take out a special policy so as to not burden your countries health care system during my stay. Again going back to personnel responsibility.

No my point was we dont get storms that wipe out thousands of homes. A tree surgeon called to a mansion should expect to get paid well on a public holiday. I was trying to say we are just as public spirited as the usa. We may not remove trees free of charge but everyone gets medical care free irrespective of whether they can afford insurance.

There is no such thing as free medical care. High taxation to support the social safety net within the UK pays for the health care system, everything else. Free medical care is available to US citizens and regrettably non or illegal residents. As long as I have a choice I will pay my own way.

I've just a call from one of the guys at the LA, to see if I'm available if needed over the next few days, I've made no promises, but said I'll help if I can.

I had a call earlier to ask if I could take a pump out of a leisure centre on the 27th and get it back in on the 28th. Can't do it! I've got a funeral to go to on the 27th. Plus! Working over Christmas ain't for me anymore.

Just had a call from a customer in Southwater, too much alcohol consumed by team since lunch-time finish - and we are 40 minutes away.
