I would say its nearer 10 years Mike.

I think the problem is that 10 years ago there were a lot less climbers.

Ten years ago my first job in London paid £40 per day cash.

That was practically doing nothing for it.

But I didn't care as there was Beer to be drunk and Raves to attend.

I was getting £60 on line clearance 13 years ago, and one guy who only came in for shut downs was on £80.

15 years ago I was on £3.50 per hour as a new climber. I got my city and guilds and tickets and when I went back to the firm I got £3.90 per hour! :scared1:.

Ten years ago, my climbers were on £80 to £100 per day depending on experience.

it is all down to the ability of the climber, i would pay whatever a guy wanted if he could justify it. i have no interest in crap guys for crap money. i pay my mate no less than 400 quid a shift for felling or running my sites, coz he is worth it. i am the same back climbing felling for him. it is nothing to do with loads of money on jobs, we usually undercut our competitors and do it far quicker. i used to be on 4pounds 30p an hour 12 years ago as a climber. hense why i only lasted 6 months and started myself.
