i put my hand up to cutting the back of my type c trouser leg:blushing:, it was my fault for being lazy with my positioning and not watching or thinking properly where the tip of the bar was, looking back on my incident i have learnt a lot about proper positioning after i sh!t my self, if i had not of had type c's on i would of probably lost my leg or bled to death as the 200t was on full revs. but like i say i have learnt my lesson from this and have tried to explain the importance of proper positioning to fellow arbs at my college, and showed them the damage that would of been to my leg if i only had type a's on. hope this dosent make me look to stupid

Can someone tell me how the Risk Assessment can be used to justify not wearing type C trousers when operating a chainsaw from a rope and harness?

i've seen someone with a scar from a chainsaw going through the protection and cutting him albeit a jacket and on his arm but the photos were enough to make you think

its all to do with heat exhaustion; apparently the dutch have ditched type c for climbers due to too many accidents occurring due to heat exhaustion or heat stroke. I've had the latter and it ain't fun.

The only time ive been caught out with typ c's was in a leylanddi hedge in the middle of the summer at the end of the day,there is no way i would not of attempted such an anal cut with out type c's but then ive put saws in front of trousers a lot of times before,logging or thinning for rubbish money and pushing it!

 

Worn type a's for 3 years now in tree's and but not a scratch,maybe due to not getting tired and hot??maybe a wake up call i had was with a 46 on full throttle that cut through every layer in some type c sipps with out struggling,at the time i had snow and saw dust blowing in my face and was not looking what was cutting on and was probasbly in a bad work position but it was frightning how the ms46 chewed them trousers!
