Would have zero self tending in that configuration Tim

 

it doesn't look like it would sit in the same position as a grillion under load, on the pic on the right it looks like the running end would sit facing down which means there's a possibility of self tailing no? too much of a bend? or am I seeing it wrong? the running end of a grillion faces very upwards under load.

The zillion had a ton of drag on the one I used- not smooth at all on the supplied rope.

 

on the Petzl supplied lanyard? that's not good.

it doesn't have the tail end countering it like a zigzag, so it would not self tend like one....IMO. Would have to try it to be sure but i'm 99% certain

 

I know what you mean about the zig zag, there's little resistance when advancing up the tree/off load which allows self tending, but if you can imagine the zillon when you're advancing up the tree...if it drops into the right position when unloaded...and with enough weight on the running end it could self tail. Will find out soon enough when Mark sends me one to try out :biggrin:
