181 or husky equivalent.

 

Might be tempted by the battery Makita as I used the battery drills all the time when fencing, and have charger set up in the truck. Good point re stopping and starting, however, I would want a proper test of it before purchasing.

MS170 is a great small saw too if available, should be cheaper than a 171. I use mine on gum branches so should be fine on chestnut and laugh at treated pine, they're pretty tough too. I always used an old 020t for struts and strainers in the UK but didn't buy it specially

What a shame. I was hoping this was a thread about swordfighting with saws... :-(

 

Yep, total disappointment here too :lol: I reckon a 135 or cheaper 236 would do you if you don't want to spend a lot.

Having used both, the 135 is a much better saw. :001_smile:

 

That's why I bought one :thumbup1: but he might want to spend a bit less on something for light use only.

I saw Rob D using a battery chainsaw at the arb show. If I remember right he said it cuts for half hour used solidly. He used it for nipping through pegs.
