LGP - does that set up require an additional hyd oil tank, pump and donkey engine or does it run fine with the machines standard oil flow?

forgive me if that's a daft question

 

Certainly not a daft question, and if money was no object plus I did a huge percentage of mulching then a complete separate powerpack on the machine is the way to go.

Ideally 100hp with all the pumps and cooling to match would really make it fly!

 

This is about as good as it can get on this machine utilising the standard hydraulics, and in Rhodies, which it does a lot of, it goes very well.

Just dealing with a couple from the storms on the way out from a site we've been on and off for a couple of years.

 

Not really my thing, but no issues for the Kubota and winch, plus we managed to get everything back tidy on the verges.

Every digger should come with a timber grab as standard IMO.

 

How do you lot get you diggers around?

 

Using a fastrac and trailer. But not very good for long hauls I guess.

Can anyone offer me some pointers of 'arb diggers'? I am looking at buying something compact for general landscaping but also to assist with shifting logs around the yard etc.

 

I'd go for something in the 1.5-2t range so I can trailer it. i'd like to fit a grab and rotor for ease of use when moving logs. Budget not huge so I would be looking at second hand.

 

How easy is it to fit a grab and rotor? Most diggers I am looking at are pipe for a breaker but I assume I need a second hydraulic service to power either the rotor/grab.

 

I quite like the Takeuchi TB16 and they seem to be in my price range.

 

Any tips?

there is a very helpful chap (stephen blair) who has managed it on his 008-3. He piped into the crowd ram with a diverter valve, and it works a treat. Hopefully he will be along to point you in the right direction

Its easy enough to do, just make sure that the breaker circuit is double acting rather than single acting like most. You can T into the bucket ram since you will not need to use it with the grab & rotator
