Nice- how does the digging power compare to your big Cat you had? Would you say similar? You must be getting the hang of the new controls allright...

Not really an arb digger, but the closest I'll get to posting one in here.

 

Had this 1.5 t on yanmar on hire for the last 2 days, must be the most gutless mini ive driven out of jcb 801's and takeuchi tb016/106's, the latter of which I have been extremely impressed with.

 

The yanmars build quality and operation are good, but its got small cylinders and i can only imagine a small pump as tracking is especially painful/slow, only 500hrs on the clock and doesnt seem to have been abused. Really wouldn't buy one based on this experience so anyone considering one, suggest you get a decent test drive first.

That's a shame, I had an older yanmar 1.5 on hire for a month a couple of years ago and it was very powerful, recovered my Land Rover tipper from a big rut, loaded 2 half ton logs onto the Land Rover and towed a big trailer out the mud.

I thought it was better than my kubota and on a par with a Volvo or Takeuchi, a shame if the current model isn't up to scratch.

Could be that the hire company have restricted the tracking speed, etc to reduce wear. The last two things I hired were restricted.... (a petrol water pump & even a cement mixer!).

Tons of power , been using it all week with the loader to!

Serious pushing power compared to a tractor and loader.

The only kubota ive run is an older 8 ton machine and that was ok, perhaps a bit big/clumsy compared to the latest smaller 8 ton machines. Ive drive a few small 1 ton machines and the step up is fairly significant, performance/efficiency changes significantly from 1 to 1.5ton and then 1.5 to 2.5/3 ton. If youve got acces the go for the bigger you can comfortably accommodate.

Yes, I guess it comes down to the added traction you get from all that weight behind it particularly on the rear wheels. I always find a tractor spins out far too easily when pushing into a pile of soil.

 

What size dumper is that 6 ton?
