Shooting Advice

Really sorry if this is a duplicate but I can't find the 2 previous attempts I made to start this question via IPhone. Thought I'd have a go from laptop and see if that works.

Advice from any ATers with shooting experience appreciated.

A driven shoot, fall of shot landing in neighbouring property. A contravention of para 3 BASC code of practice but is there a legal implication?

Any thoughts appreciated.

At best, it's a trespass; your stuff on their land. Civil offence. They sue you for damages.

Falling shot probably won't do much damage to anyone but have an ammo mixup and rain slug onto someone and you're in trouble (obviously). This would be a criminal matter.

As hard as it may be to believe, a lot of law is just common sense. Don't shoot anyone.

The above is correct, keep shot within the boundary or at least make every effort to try and keep it within the boundary.

We have a golf course next door to our shoot and occasionally we do get the wind taking shot onto the golf course despite shooting within our boundary. If you shoot straight above you the wind may carry the shot some distance.

I always carry a golf ball in my pocket, as shoot captain I get the flack from the golfers but now when I get one shout me over, I pull the ball out as I'm approaching and ask if the ball is theirs.

It kind of gets them realising that they litter our land with golf balls, it's not just a one way street

Thanks guys!

I was sitting in the garden with 2YO daughter on her swing as neighbouring shoot rained shot on us. To be fair, my reaction was to offer to insert the SG into the nearest shooter (been a while since I've had a full on red mist moment) Spoken to BASC and constabulary and waiting to hear back from HSE (RIDDOR 8(1) - not sure about that one) Certainly contravenes BASC para 3 code of good shooting practice and HSE "safe use of guns" and even more worrying, for supposedly experienced shooters, they had no concept of safety distances / arcs.

Previously V good relations with neighbour but fall of shot in garden when daughter is out and an obvious lack of firearms safety awareness is enough to push my buttons. I'm still proper raging inside 24hrs after event. Venting off here is part of my "anger management" pressure valve!

Tried that first Jon. They have been totally blaze and can't seem to understand my position. This is the 2nd time it's happened mind. First time I was home on my own, this time, my little princess was in line of fire and that'll bring me out swinging every time. I've kept my enquiries with plod/BASC/HSE 'informal' at this stage in the interests of maintaining good neighbourly relations but if it ever happens again I want to know exactly where to take it. They were shooting TOWARDS my house from within 200m. That's just damn stupid and unsafe but they thought I was being unreasonable. I can't say it, but returning one back down the bearing would probably highlight the stupidly of their actions but that would lower me to their standard which I can't allow.
