You couldn't become ISA qualified without some understanding of tree biology. You can be NPTC qualified with none.

And no, it isn't him. The guy in question has to my knowledge spent nearly a whole day cutting with a blunt chain, put a back cut in 3 inches below his gob cut and fairly recently took down a TPO tree on a PJ whilst working for somebody else.
