Duration of wood burning stoves.

When mine is lit for the winter it usually stays lit for the duration. The only exception is when I get a 'hung fire' when the unburnt wood jams and is unable to fall on to the embers. Just a bit of thought when loading avoids this. I also use the largest pieces the stove will take when loading it up for the night.

Short as possible  1 - 2 hours a day when convenient

Burn hard and fast - makes max use of energy in the wood, keeps flue clear, limits shite going into the air, no faffing with a fire all day & minimises how much wood you need.

Store the energy in a thermal store.

Why make life difficult and inefficient........

Keep mine alight all the time, non stop for 4 months, only need to put about 4 logs on , shut her down then throw some logs on in the morning and of she goes. Morso squirrel brilliant little stove.

Do you move the embers to one side to get the ash out now and then ?
