  4. No local dealers with full stock to try. It has the cow horn handlebars, but to get the head low for a level cut I have to stoop.
  5. Hello I am looking to supplement my FS55 strimmer with a more powerful option, the problem I have is that I find the FS55 too short and it gives me a bad back after using it for a while. What does anyone recommend for someone over six foot tall? Cheers Mick
  6. If it is on drums is it not a 127? Anyway, I believe it will fit providing the gearbox is the same, but the TD5 will have a R380 box and the older one will have an LT85 or a LT77. If you can get the TD5 part number I can get the older number if you tell me what box/engine is fitted.
  7. Depends on the use. It must have been put there for a reason. was the winch new, if not, it may have been fitted for a specific use when the winch was used previously.
  8. Not sure that the alloy wheels are rated for the weight of the truck though.

  10. Just straighten it in a vice then put it in a length of 1"box section, that will keep it straight and strong.
  11. Try Lombard finance, they do a lot of oddball loans, failing that Santander.
  12. I am in the same situation and am going to use permitted development. Just make sure that any use you state to the planners is agricultural, storing non agricultural vehicles or goods will mean that they will require full planning permission, choose the wording of your application very carefully!

  14. What sort of area would you need to plant to produce a tonne of wood per year once established?
  15. I have a 14kw woodwarm stove with saddle boilers. close it down overnight and it fires up in the morning with fresh wood, no need for kindling. Sweep the flue every year and get about 3/4 of a bucket full of crap out of it. Mixed wood, usually oak and ash, with a bit of birch. The flue is a twin wall flue with the rest of the chimney void filled with micafill. this seems to avoid the condensation issues you have with a 'cold' flue.

  17. I have a Glenalmond that I am slowly getting to know. I will be changing the Hydraulic fluid soon and having a general checkover of the mechanicals. Will let you know if I come up with anything useful. The cover was fitted by the previous owner. Will be converted into a cab only cover soon as the sides are always rolled up.
  18. When mine is lit for the winter it usually stays lit for the duration. The only exception is when I get a 'hung fire' when the unburnt wood jams and is unable to fall on to the embers. Just a bit of thought when loading avoids this. I also use the largest pieces the stove will take when loading it up for the night.
  19. Will fit in a Merlin, they are cheaper, I think! Mind you, you can probably pick up an ex North Sea Super Puma for about a tenner at the minute!

  21. Used to know an Irish contractor who used to dig up roads in the North East. He would sack anyone wearing a warm coat as they were not working hard enough! Men had to run with wheelbarrows etc. He had men queuing up to work for him! Why? He paid top Dollar! A job would cost for example £10 000. He would take £1500 for himself, £2500 for fuel tools etc, £1000 back into the company for the future and £5000 for wages. If the job took one day the £5k was paid out for a days work for the team, but if it took ten days there was no extra cash for wages, the crew knew this and earned a fortune for navvies. As a result of this he had an excellent reputation for getting work done quickly and got more work for it. He always said the hardest thing was turning down so many applicants for jobs. Mind you Health and safety would probably have shut him down, even though I never heard of a serious accident on one of his jobs.
