This is a rather odd request...

I'm after some advise from people who know what there talking about because I defiantly do not!

I know its a long way off however for one of my boyfriends Christmas presents I would like to buy him a new splitting axe (seeing as the head flew off his last one, spiralling through the air luckily not into the direction of any living objects)

I know he likes the Gransfor ones although I've seen a nice Husqvarna splitting axe I like better.

Does anyone have any reviews or splitting axes they recommend?

I would just ask him but don't want to spoilt the surprise

I like the Gransfors for absolute quality. It looks and feels hand made (which it is) and the maker stamps their name in the head. There's the choice between maul, large splitting axe and small splitting axe. I would go with one of the splitting axes as the maul is too much of a brute force tool in my opinion to justify the Gransfors quality, but that said it depends a bit on how big your boyfriend is. If he's built for swinging a maul all day then it will do the quickest job, if he's small then the small splitting axe, in-between then the large splitting axe.

If you've got the muscle to lift a 660 that high I wouldn't argue whatever you bought me Fit and interested in chainsaws and axes, if only I was 20 years younger (I'd still be 20 years too old ) Does he want a kindling splitter or a log splitter ? Gransfors, Hultafors or Husqvarna for logs, cheap axe for stick chopping Hultafors on amazon.

Lucky Lad . Any tree bloke would love a new splitting maul / axe as a present Why not get a blacksmith to stamp a name or personal message into the the maul or axe's head . All the best .
