I think MEWP's have their place, but i prefer to climb most things. I work with a lot of guys who have "grown-up" in a company that uses MEWP's on a daily basis for roadside stuff, if even a remotely challenging climb crops up they move on to the next job and tell the boss that job needs the MEWP. Their skills are well below average and are never gonna improve! More trees should be climbed to improve skill level, can a risk assessment not justify a tree be climbed for training purposes?? Cos if so, mine will say that all day long! :001_tt1: MEWP last resort for me!

Bloody good point about risk assessment. Ones continued exposure to challenging climbs makes one more competent. Consistent MEWP use will erode climbing skills to the point of it being dangerous.

I would never use mewps for a challenging climb only for the exteamly dead or dangerous ones...

that said if i had a contract to lift street trees or road side the most quickest way would be with one of those transit mounted ex bt things you can just drive along and cut away!
