mixed feelings about mink

now at 50 years old and lived in same place never moved etc seen something i never seen ever and that was 2 mink one behind the other walking across the road over a roadbridge i had to slow to let them both cross to get back down the footpath down to the canal

 

i was unsure what they were being a towny but looked them up tonight on google they were in stunning condition jet black and as long as a cat are they a good thing or bad as i like nature and such and when it comes to mink no nothing but shocked too find there mink never in my life have i seen mink in the wild here up north or even knew they were here where i live etc

Personally I love them, great little survivors, bad news for the water vole but there you go.

Used to come into contact with them in a previous life as a water.

IMO a great addition to our fauna.

I love shooting them. If you're using an air rifle you'd better knock them over with a head shot first time, else they'll come at you! Vicious little bastards.

Again, the minks bad name can be put down to animal activists releasing them from mink farms.

 

I remember when they were released from a farm near me, there were four in my back garden a couple of days later and it took at least a decade for the local wildlife to recover.

 

The mink ( in unnatural numbers) wiped out everything

Have to agree. Saw mink in the river in Hebden bridge taking ducklings. Did wonders for the population of everything along the Calder
