Rebuilding long reach hedge trimmer head?

They are the packers that allow the blades to be sandwiched but as the blades wear the gap increases and they part rather than shear.

I have changed blades on the long reach, shortened shafts and welded cutter teeth back on so cant see any reason why you cant fix it, what you got to loose if its broken anyway.

Keep us posted with a few pics if you do pluck up the courage :thumbup:

Often if the bearings have failed there will be damage to the gears. The gears are only avaiable as a set (c/w bearings) at a cost of £157 plus vat (for the 0-135 degree model)

 

They are a bitch to fit, involving heating the housings. It depends on how you value your time, but at commercial labour rates its a no brainer. New head every time.
