I got a call on friday, from the RSPCA asking if I could rescue a pigeon... It was loud and I wasn't sure I heard right. But he was deadly serious, a wild pigeon (I am not sure of the species) was stuck in a tree! Had been there for two days apparently.

He had called the fire brigade and they could not reach it. When I asked if they were willing to pay me to rescue said bird he said they would. It was only 5 mins away so I said I would do it for £100. They said I was too expensive.:confused1:

ben,

that phonecall could've been genuine, I read a story that during world war 1 the allies bred a wingless carrier pigeon in the Loughborough area. The idea was that the pigeons would walk over no man's land to the German trenches with messages for the Germans like, 'do you want to surrender now?'

That one stuck up the tree is probably a direct descendant of one of the original wingless Loughborough pigeons.

We had a collared dove sat on our yard. I went to look at it and it never budged so I picked it up and sat it on the trailer top thinking it would be safer there. A couple of hours later I went to check and it was still there so I thought I'd probably take another look at it> I went to pick it up and it flew away as if it was fine. You'd probably have got within two feet of it then seen it disappear into the distance.

Got a call about a stuck cat :what: instant reaction was some1 taking the tiss so said offer food if not get some1 to shoot it down and get a new one as cheaper than paying me to get it. Lady sounded quite upset so appolagised and explained I though she was taking the piss so if it wasn't down by 5ish I'd come and help but not heard owt so it must be sorted ;)

Thought this was joke as well, when i arrived there were two fire engines and about 7 or 8 guys who had tried and failed to get the cat down. The little bugger had been up the tree for four days!! i have no idea how it got that high up. I work with a guy who gets freaked out by less.
