I got a 550xp from jonsie at the apf last year and its a belter!! Yeah it's a bit temperamental on hot starts and I had a break band go but my local dealer did it under warranty no questions asked. It really is well worth getting, I run mine (against what most say) with an 18" bar and it doesn't struggle with that really, even pulls the 18 better than the guys at works ms 341 with 16"!!

Hi

Thinking a 550xpg to replace my 346xpg. Although i see lots of threads about 550 problems. So what is the consensus? Get one the problems sort them selves out or avoid like the plague.

Andy

Not read thrrough the whole thread but I wouldn'd hesitate to swap a 346 for a 550. Mine's been fine and is a revelation compared to a 346 in finer branched stuff but with enough grunt for heavier limbed stuff that might ordinarily have meant swaying more towards a 357.

I can't really comment on problems as so far mine's been problem free. Used to flood it quite often to start with but that was operator error more than anything else.

Personally I still wouldn't look to buy one.

I think they will have the new model out soon 552/562 to replace them as they've had so many issues.

They've already stopped selling the 550/560 in the states and replaced them with the new model, cant see it to long before it hits our shores as my dealer already has them on special trying to get rid of his stock.

They started with the 562, it follows the 262 and 362 with a D009 bar mount, where as the 560 has the smaller K095 mount
