The perpetrator (alleged) called himself Brian Price, like he used his own name........

So he may have used a false name, maybe not, if he were from 100 miles away who would'nt he use his real name, then if you ask for ID he'll have it. Ask yourself would you note down details from his ID? I'd guess you just look at the photo and give it back.

The rest of his details may also be fake, but we do know he used e-mail, phone, ebay account and a vehicle in this theft!?

If he registered with E-bay his account details may contain an address, phone numbers, e-mail accounts, all or some of them may be false, but he used some means of comunication to contact the OP and who knows even this snippit of information may help identify the guy. The more information that is shared about this guy and his methods the better.

And NO theft is not funny !!

No one said its funny, where did you get that from?

This is a fairly thought out theft, I for one don't believe that anyone that would attempt this kind of theft would be stupid enough to use their own name.

You can believe what you want.

Would I check ID, no but then I wouldn't be taking a bank draft either.

I had a guy come to view my bike (BMW R1200GS) on a Saturday. He had a big wad of £50's and wanted to pay cash there & then. We sat at a bench in the garden counting 50's and I thought to myself - actually, I wouldn't really know a good fake 50 from a real one and this guy will disappear with my bike and I'll have nothing! I told him, we've shaken hands, the deals done and I won't accept a higher offer in the meantime. If you come back Monday, we'll go together to the bank, they can check the money then we'll go back home and load the bike in your van. He took the BMW & the KTM and I had the money safely banked. He was a nice enough chap, understood my caution and we parted company on good terms although I miss the bike. Take care out there, only a crook would be offended if you're cautious.

Derail,

Fake 50s are very rare, because everyone checks them.

Mostly fake 20s as you can buy something cheap and get a real 10 and 5 back in change.

A lot of it happens at festivals and in clubs where lots of cash is changing hands and the staff are in a rush.

Also you should be able to feel if the note is wrong, you can tell as you count them.

Thanks for all your messages of support. You would think that having started and run Orange Plant for many years that I would have seen every trick in the book. Obviously NOT. Business MUST to a high degree rely on trust and when you get stitched up it knocks your faith in human kind sideways, which is a great pity because there surely are more decent guys out there that the sort of scum who go round preying on honest hard working people and companies ?

Having your kit stolen is not only financially damaging and emotionally distressing, it seriously affects your business and could even put you out of the game. Money is hard earned in the tree world as we all know so try to learn from my mistake. Keep a close eye on your gear, NEVER accept a bankers draft. Cash or cleared funds only.

i feel for everyone who,s ever had kit stolen its very distressing and breaks your will to carry on . Allso there must be a massive amount of stolen equipment on the roads of the uk now & at this rate more stolen chippers than legally owned chippers there must be an answer to all the havoc disruption cause by stolen gear maybe the manufactures can fit trackers as standerd unless its not in their interest to do so its seems a loosing battle against the villains thesedays. I do hope all of you one day get your goods back and the law deals with this massive problem

David, we haven't met but I've had great customer service from Connor previously. Haven't used your Plymouth satellite branch yet but will do when the need arises!

Personally, I prefer to buy from new then I know the usage, history and maintenance schedules.

If you buy a "bargain" it's only a matter of time before you're buying someone else's stolen kit and one day it'll come back to haunt you.
