Hmmm..... sounds like an avoidable mistake has occured to me...

Let's hope the lad is ok and recovers well.

I'd say it was avoidable, but hard to know exactly what went wrong........he's had the same climbing tutor as the rest of us and its constantly drummed into us to take our time and check, check and check again...........when climbing on both ends of the rope i always take the weight on the line i've just put in before detatching the first line, besides you'd be hard pushed to open a kabiner and take it off your harness when its weight loaded, so i can only guess that the second line he put in maybe didnt lock onto his harness, but gave him enough support to detatch his first line before it popped off.......he said he didnt remember what happened before or falling, its the first climbing accident the college has had apparently so dont know exactly what they'll do about it, we all got called to reception as soon as the chopper left and told to write witness statements. Hopefully he'll be alright and it wont put him off, but i think it'll slow a few people down climbing for a bit!!!! It does make you step back and think about things and how safe you are and how easy things can go wrong if you're not paying proper attention all the time............the ironic thing is, he was asking all morning about accidents and whether anyone had fallen out of a tree before!!!!!!

Sounds like you need another "Tree Surgeons night out" mate, get onto Sean to organise another.

I've got a sore throat, swollen hands, back ache, tennis elbow and a nagging wife.

I need a night out on the razz :001_smile:

You sound worse than me, I'm coming down with a cold:thumbdown:, bad head, running nose, sneezing fits, the house is too hot, and about two months work thats supposed too be finished before the end of march.

Just had another customer ring to ask why I've not been yet, shes been waiting since October, I had one ring this morning who's been waiting since November.
