I'd say they've moved out your area to make it cost effective for either of you.

Thats the top and bottom of it really . There will be ( possibly ) other fire wood merchants in their new area . You godda price it like you don't want the job ( within reason ) and see what happens . I know they are good loyal customers but you are running a bizzness after all ...........

As has been said, let them go....

£0.70ppm for travelling, minimum, but you will find that wears thin with not being able to do local runs and you'll be loosing out.

I allow an amount in price of logs to cover delivery up to 20 miles, after that it is an extra £5 per 1.5 metres, up to 30 miles absolute max. I know a lot of you have a smaller free delivery area, but I am so far from civilisation that it does not work! Also I do not go over 20 miles for orders less than 3 metres , it is not cost effective because of the time involved. Last winter I gave people over 25 miles away the numbers of firewood suppliers nearer to them if they were stuck, and hoped and prayed they got some dry logs... Saying all that, I sometimes make an exception if I get big orders in summer when things are quiet, say 4-6 loads for someone who lives way out by!

£5 per 1.5 meters.....dang thats some expensive ass machinery you are driving to deliver logs :001_cool:

see what the sheds charge for delivery £40 outside a radious of 10miles.

you say its a 50 mile round trip when using my car for work i was paid 45p per mile so £22.50 delivery or £25 is it going to cost you that in fuel plus a bit for wear

yes it sounds a difficult one but £25.00 +vat sounds about right for extra delivery charge because at the end of the day it may lead to some extra work in the future :thumbup:cheers andrew
