Large Yellow Underwing. Very common at this time of year. We disturbed atleast a dozen on one verge this morning.

I'm seeing oodles of White Admirals this year. Quite a chilled butterfly, tends to glide a fair amount. They used to be quite scarce. Wondered if anyone else has seen an increase?

We've had a few Burnett moths in the garden lately, they fly around in the daylight and look unnatural in their colouring.

Found and rescued from the chipper a puss moth caterpillar today, was the size of a finger and looked amazing. It was on a willow I removed so I put it on another

A few of the beauties from this weekend.

First: Purple thorn

Second: not sure yet, some kind of carpet. Any thoughts ?

Third: Clouded boarder

Forth: Scalloped oak

Fifth: Common white wave

Some from Austria over the last couple of weeks. Well, it has a bit more kudos than Surrey!

Idents welcome especially on pics 1,3&4: the skipper in pic1 was no more than 15mm long - tiny.
