How should I go about cutting my 3 mtr friction cord in half. Can I just cut it with a sharp knife and melt the end or should I get it done properly.

wrap electrical tape tightly round the part you want to cut. use a sharp knife and gently heat with a flame...you don't want to set the thing on fire

Get a butter knife and heat it til it's glowing. Have your rope electrical taped where you want to cut it and put the knife straight through. It'll seal as it cuts

Just tape and cut with a really sharp knife. Someone was on about sealing the ends with Superglue but I've never bothered tbh

I would tie your friction hitch first as I find I can get 3 vt's from 3 metres and as stated above for cutting

WOW 3 VT's from 3 metres of cord.

What combo you using? 1 wrap 1 braid?

My thoughts exactly.

No need to send off to be done,as mentioned above just make sure you seal the ends with a flame too stop fraying.

As said use a hot knife or similar. Make its not a metal handle though. I use a half inch wood chisel, does a fine job

Laugh all you like, it's true and it works well. Its 3 wraps 2 braids I believe and that's using 8mm Marlow braid friction chord with fishermans, I like it nice and compact an it's worked fine for the last 2 lengths, will get a pic as soon as I get home
