The shape of the skittles in the last photo look superb, just sent you an email about a little project you might like to do.

 

they are called long alley skittles and that is the nottinghamshire shape.

Hi Steve I have tryed to get an old lawn bowl but not had any luck I dont spose it makes any odds though wood is wood , but clamping a bowl may pose a challange , why do you ask do you have one going spare

here is one of my more labour intensive commissions i've had for a while.

 

all in all i had to make 12 american ash croquet mallets plus 12 posts made from robinia (i was asked not to paint the coloured the band's), six sets of 10" X 4" beech skittles (not pictured), and 5 sets of draughts comprising of 12 a side, one half was ash and the other was Makore. 120 in total was soooo boring...

 

i worked out that the draughts pieces alone took about 13 minutes for each one so that's about 26 hours for 5 sets which did not include cutting out the blanks.

also a set of 10"x 5" with narrower tops and bottoms with an extra pair.

 

a normal set of 10" x 5" and someone wanted me to skim an old bunch of balls which now look like new.
