Kids Choosing College/School Subject!?!

Anyone else struggling to get the children to chose some sensible subjects at school or college?

My daughter has chosen Psychology, Dance, Drama and Music as she is going to be a dancer or an actress in a Soap Opera and my lad is going to college to do a BTec in computer games! I cannot get it through to each of them that they are being daft and unrealistic and the stupid ex-wife thinks that it will be okay! She thinks that their dreams will come true!

Two years time, they'll both have a nasty shock about life!

All in all, its all part of the school of life.

They'll learn stuff they may never need ever again, their dreams may come true, their dreams may not. But they'll still learn a valuable lesson in life along the way

Oh, and there's no such thing as mistakes

I did none of the right subjects at school, went on to do the wrong course and then drop out of uni....... but then again, I spend all my time in the woods surrounded by trees. :confused1:

I'm always amazed by people who know what they want to do from school age and who manage to actually do it.

There is big money in game designing, production and even testing! A lad I met a few weeks back has just got a job reviewing games, he will be on more than I am per year, isn't limited to a set amount of holidays and his job will be to play a game and write what he thinks about it!

I wouldnt worry about it too much Pete. Did you take chipper salesmen lessons at school??

I did electrical engineering at college.....that was useful!

Ha! I was going to Trent Polytechnic to do interior design and got a job as a labourer doing tree work. That holiday job lasted 17 years!!! That summer ended and GreenMech had an opening....

You are all true, spose. Tom passed a workshop apprenticeship to do this games thing! And that got up my nose. Pip is a big lass who isnt at all physical, wants to dance? Where did that shweppes cone from!
