plant or flatbed trailer?

hi guys, im looking to change my ifor gd105 for something a bit bigger to take the ride on mower and enough room to hold grass cuttings at the front. My Kubota mower only just fits on the GD105 length wise so something longer is needed. Either the GX126 plant trailer with mesh sides, or a lm126 with mesh sides and rear ramp. Ive been going back and for between the two for ages but cant decide! Any advaice which you think would be best? Im heading towards the plant trailer because i like the weight as low as possible but open to options...

The plant trailer is quicker to load then the flatbed as you don't have to faff around setting the ramps up. Plus probably need to make sure its tied down better then if its on a plant trailer. But if you do other work a flatbed is far more versatile particularly loading and unloading loose materials etc.

We run our kubota's on a 12 x 5 goods trailer with a ramp tail door. We had a plant trailer for about 6 weeks - it was far too wide for our purpose and wider than the transit vans which was a pain to remember when you're not used to it. Depending on the Kubota model you might find it catches the deck on a wheels below trailer models. Our newest 12 x 5 with the wheels as the sides has an extended tail door which is great. Having said that the new G23 lifts the deck much higher than the old G21 and G18's did, but its still nicer to have a more gradual ramp angle.

To add iv never found the weight higher up on the flatbed an issue. Just make sure the weight is in the right place and it works fine

Trailer is a 2001 LM166 (16' x 6'6") with 8' ramps. It usually has headboard, dropsides and tailgate as well, 800kg unladen. For 12 years it's been overloaded with chip, logs, plant and machines and still going strong.

 

For handballing logs etc., it's a good height and you can still get low slung vehicles on there should you wish.
