Would of made a lovely monolith you are right Adam but the, customer wanted it down and was worried about public safety although, i did explain that the tree was safe and would stand for a long time, some branches had started to fall. Could of dead wooded it and left it to stand. How to you change peoples opinions, TPO it ?

Felling should certainly be a viable option, even with only a 24" bar. That said, dismantling is also an option. There are plus points to both, which you choose to do is up to you. As with so many things in life there is more than one way to skin a cat and it often depends on what you're most comfortable with. At the end of the day the tree is on the ground, you're safe and the customer is happy - you can't argue with that.

For the record, I'd have dropped it in one.

Also agree monolith could've been good, but if the client doesn't want it, then what can you do?

Cool job, well done. Great practice knocking bigs stems off, don't get that sort of climb very often.

Ten years ago I did a tree similar to that (but a fair bit smaller),in loads of space etc, we got there and I straight felled it, chipped it and was done for 2pm, gaffer came out and tore me a new one because he'd told the customer it would be a 2 day dismantle haha
