This by me about five years ago.

History repeating itself in one hundred year cycles

The age of the robber barons dawning once again

Consolidation of wealth and power into the hands of just a few

Actors on our political stage proclaim we did it all for you

While backstage they slap each others backs and congratulate themselves

Their's an uneasy heaven our's a daily hell

The guillotine so sharp and glistening winds up to the top

The bright eyed peasants befouled and grimy cheer it as it drops

While high above the moon shines brightly indifferent to our plight

Another from 34 years ago.

While strolling the corridors of my mind

I happened upon Mr. Space and Mrs Time

Greetings I cried my hands held high

But something was wrong for they would not reply

Could it be a tear he just wiped from her eye

Suddenly I found myself down on my knees

Somehow knowing it important that I try to appease

Is there some reason you heed not my call

I whispered as another tear began to fall

Finally he turned

And I cowered from the light that flashed from his eyes

There is good reason was his noble reply

That you know why my lady cries

For the universe is vast

Good company rare

I beg you to love one another

Be more willing to share

For tis a lonely fate

Just the sky and I

As when you are gone

My lady will die

I might knock somethin off this evening to share...

Obviously has to be a tree choppin theme.... I used to fancy myself as a poet in my younger days, wrote a couple of em and even had one published in the local paper...

The embarrassment of being stopped by my friends to congratulate me on the piece put a stop to any ambitions of being published......

I was tripping, on a fantasy

as the sun went down, to night

and as the moonlight

lit the stars beyond, I stare into her eyes

she says to me

I've got to go and leave your life behind

'cuz I'm a loser, she had to go

and leave my life behind

I've had enough, of lonely love

and I'm so, tired

my lonely love

cheers, steve

Way back in 1980, when I first started scribbling.

In rivulets running spiraling and tumbling

Gently runs the rain

Knowing not where

Softly laughing

It finds its way there

Gently falling from high above

Amusing two lovers deeply in love

They listen to the rain

Speaking and dreaming

Feeling no pain

How I wish that I

Could be as the rain

Why is it my dreams

Are dreamt in vain

Gently the rain

Washes clean my soul

As well as this city

So unyielding and cold

Gentle the rain

So quietly bold

Softly in slumber

My lover now sleeps

As over this city

My god still weeps

Crying for children

He longs to keep

As softly his tears

Lull his son to sleep

for some reason i did a few when i was in the older years of primary school, here's one.

LIFE

My life has been short

but there are lots of things I know.

One of them is that we’re destroying

tomorrow!

We kill the birds and then the bees,

Then we chop down all the trees.

We do this to keep ourselves alive

But we are all in for a big surprise,

Because when we’re finished and everything is gone

We’ll look back and say we’ve done this wrong!

We can’t turn back the clocks,

It’s killed itself.

It started off well,

But we just couldn’t work it out.

Like a fire that didn’t get going

LIFE KILLED LIFE!

How about some happy, inspiring and uplifting verse lads?

The evil is now in front of your face

As you run and scream in search of a place

Knowing full well who'll win this grim race

No matter the times it was foretold

No matter the blood and carnage of old

You've ignored it all your blood running cold

Now it's pounding on your front door

Bursting it open in splinters on the floor

Swiftly taken by the throat to breathe no more

Struggling feebly with fading vision

Unable to meet the eyes of a just oblivion

Guilty and deserving of beastly derision

No witnesses necessary at your trial

Just you and the truth incriminating and vile

Judge and jury inside you despite your denials

Dualities of conscience complete with victor and vanquished

The virtuous often can't compete without making honor's acquaintance

Winners and losers tied together wrestling seeking gain and sustenance

Flawed and fading our masquerading as beings worthy of godly notice

Jungle law red of tooth and claw reigning as you feed upon the weakest

Your reward's already known to you be it blessings or cannibal's breakfast
