Hi all.

Just thought I'd ask whether you climbers use gloves or not. Or is it just personal preference??

I for one prefer to climb with the rubber dipped brick layer gloves but I am able to climb with out them.

Cheers,

Jake

Gloves unless I forget them or its too warm. Why make it hard for yourself by not wearing them.. There will be a lot of testosterone happy climbers that say gloves are for girls......let's see what they say when they are in there 50s and their finger joints are knackered

Haha yeah I bet some will say that. I'm only 17 and I think gloves are easier to climb in IMO.

Testosterone replenishes itself - gloves cost money.

No but really - i find gloves get in the way, easy to get trapped between prussic and main rope, makes operating karabiners more clunky. Now my knarly old skin has hardened up I prefer eau naturelle.

When I reached 55 my hands were still OK - maybe I don't try hard enough

Each to there own , personally , i find them horrible to climb in .

I wore them in snow a few times and i find them cumbersome and un natural.

My colleagues wear them and think I'm crazy for not but there is nothing sweeter then hearing the sound of them curse because they forgot there gloves , one problem i will never have :001_cool:

Some amazing climbers i have seen wear gloves and some do not , its not about being tough i think its just they tick more boxes for some and less for others
