We should be legally allowed to drive the 6 ton vehicles on a normal license as its no different from the 3.5 tonners.

 

The reason is simple, you are a money making human being and they will use every possible way of taking money from you !.

 

You dont really think this country wants to help anyone do you?. They have created a system which keeps us in perpetual debt, what ever you do to try and better your life they have a tax system in place or law which will mean you will technically always have to operate illegally or you cant even move !.

 

I can guarantee there is not one single company in the history of this country that has operated 100% legal all of the time. The system does not allow it, its the gray area that we operate in. How many business get taught the laws that affect them ?........... Even when. you seek the information its vague.

 

Anyway thats enough coffee for me :) this is just another way of hitting you in the pocket, fair play for actually taking dangerous drivers off the road etc but lets be honest, most will be hard working small business trying to survive under the mountain of legislation and red tape.

The whole 'nose weight' thing for trailers could be more simply explained / presented though!

 

 

Crack on, please: I for one have always been confused as to how the nose weight is supposed to be maintained at a small fraction of the trailer's capacity.

 

I see the principle behind it and I load over the trailer axles, i.e. balance the load, as far as I can, with a slight bias onto the front to put weight onto the towing vehicle's rear wheels.

I kind of agree with you there, but.........

 

How many people do you encounter who presumably have a standard car licence yet struggle to perform the simplest manoeuvre in the smallest car available? The thought of these people being let loose in a 6 tonner is enough to strike terror into anyone.

I'm with you! I wasn't suggesting I could explain it better, I'm as confused as the next man! I try my best iaw what I think the correct principles are but its only my best guess based upon what I think is right :confused1:

Your right there are people who cant drive at all, and those who with no experience can drive very well.

 

My issue is the jump from 3.5 to hgv i would only need a 6.5 tonne iveco, but to go through the hassle of hgv training etc for a truck the same size as i already drive is just stupid.

 

They should do an extra test but one that just requires the driver to prove they can handle a 6.5tonner, and not require the hgv stuff mots and crazy checks all the time.

Why is that then, aren't they allowed to do further driving tests and get a higher category licence????????????

 

Of course you can but it is still prohibitive on the grounds of cost and not wanting the indignity of paying for something your mum got for free.
