Moved a tree with the Mog today

We have recently taken down a line of 10m tall 40 year old Redwoods, we had the JCB on site so I thought we just might try transplanting one of them, they have got to go anyway so theres nothing to loose. Unfortunately the one we picked had been planted on top of a soakaway so there wasn't as much root as we anticipated.

thought youd have wrapped the rooots up stop em drying out , hope it takes were it going yr front lawn

Wrapping them would have been nice, I was hoping the wet weather was going to help but the soil was a bit sandy and quite a bit fell away. Not quite the front lawn but not far away Johny, Dawn is quite easy going but I think I would be sleeping with the dogs tonight.

Good one. It's got a fighting chance.

William Barron & sons used to move trees in the 1850's, upright & horse drawn with his tree moving machine & 6 man team, of which a replica is now at Kew.

Tale is of his biggest triumph doing this(amongst many others) is of windows being smashed as he moved a 48ft cedar of Lebanon through the streets of derby "!"
