The first image is the "normal" tree

 

I was under the impression that "normal" trees had roots, no? :biggrin:

 

 

Seriously though Tony, why did you not include your interpretation of the morphology of the underground sections in your diagrams?

 

Surely that's as important in terms of what you're portraying here in relation to "uninterrupted vascular pathways" ?
