I was stopped by vosa on the A23 yesterday morning and they went all over my truck and trailer and questioning me about the load I was carrying. Has anyone else had experience with these guys? Would like to hear other stories.

Cheers guys

Well they said my drivers license was not valid for towing a trailer and I have to go on an extra test to be able to tow one. I was lucky as I was let off with a warning.

That's the VOSA Weigh Bridge Station on the A23 Handcross Hill in the middle of the road works, often has either a Euro Artic or sometimes a Fairground Lorry, the type pulling 2 Trailers in it. not seen anyone Arb related in there before. I go past couple of times a week, luckily in a small van.

They have spells of pulling all vans and pickups around here. Usually nitpicking over stupid little things. Know of one bloke who was made to have 3 MOT's in as many months!

Has anybody been "done" for not having trailer license, ever?

I said to someone the other day they needed a license to pull a trailer, they said they weren't bothered and nobody gets done anyway.

Think the law has changed with regard to trailers, renewed my licence recently and there was info in the renewal pack about it.

nobody gets done but would your insurance pay out

I'm no expert on the matter but I don't think you have to have passed your driving test in order to be insured. You can buy car insurance as a learner.

From that I am assuming you would be insured for a trailer with or without the specific test.

It doesn't apply to me anyway, and I wouldn't recommend putting it to the test without checking.
