I currently work full time for somebody and have been setting myself up in business. Last year i worked every day for just short of 7 month! I do 12 13 14 hour days on a weekend and when i finish work in either doin jobs or fixing things!! Everything seems to be breaking at the minute. Chipper sump on van brake drum and shoes on trailer fuel pipe on top handle! Im stressed to the max. This doesn't stop my girlfriend from having a go saying all o do is work and we never go anywhere and how i don't do anything in the house! Despite me offering! She just cant seem to understand what im working towards. How many of you suffered pointless arguments when you were just starting off?

Maybe they are not pointless and you need to pay your girlfriend some attention?!

Working 7 days a week for 7 months is not a balanced approach to life (in my opinion). I am particularly work-shy though

Yep saw story here I'm afraid.

But one thing is it does gain a lot of brownies points when you do take a day and night off and treat her out. Quality time together.

All work and o play will effect you big time. Just take time off and be together, we have movie nights of nothing but us two together.

I have this problem as well. Many years ago started off self employed then had a couple of bad accidents broke both legs and 3 bones in my back plus one in my neck !!

So short of money and ended up back in employment but always kept busy with timber as a sort of hobby.

I now drive 4 days and am running firewood business 4 days, my wife is working firewood 6 days

I do 8 days a week from august to may and do at least half of the cooking and still get it it the neck !!! despite only having Christmas day boxing day and new years day off !!!

Having sold about 450 loads of firewood this winter maybe it's time to give the driving up

I know it must be tough for you , but really its important to keep your relationship a relationship ,otherwise it can land up just 2 people sharing a house together for years . The bigger picture is brilliant , but don't let it become the only picture on the wall , life is a balance too much of any one thing will always tip the scales costing you somewhere else .

I wish you all the best
