Just asked, she says VERY hot cast iron pan, butter and olive oil, 2 to 3 minuets max each side, then rest on warm plate for a 5 minuets.

 

She says you need to get the pan and fat really really hot!!!

 

PS, when you say "medium" I presume you mean"medium/rare"??

 

That's the way to roll, except, and I know that olive oil is healthy and all that, but I do think a good steak deserves butter:thumbup1:

Butter burns too quick in a very hot pan. Plain old veg oil. About a tablespoon. The steak releases enough fat to cook itself in anyway.

George foreman grill'everyone in our house likes there steak done diff.

 

It get's them all spot on every time and well worth the money if you are a regular

steak muncher like me.

I grill; mine ( if not on the barbe ) . I find the thing is to have the grill on low not high and turn the steak a lot . Don't do so many mins a side do lots of short times on either side ..

All this talk of steak is making me hungry.

 

Brings me back to summer with the Barbie running and my infamous BBQ marinated steak with a very special blend of spices. (So good I had to fight to get any)
