Husky or stihl

Old husky 338 stop Working last week. Striped it down new diagram kit and all that. Still wont run. Only on choke. Any ideas? New carb Mabey? Don't want to spent alot on the old girl because its time for a upgrade!!!

 

Stihl or huskys new one? If it ever comes out?

Only heard bad things about the new stihl.

Splurging out on a new carb would me the very last thing I would do - rebuilding it and giving it a decent clean with an ultrasonic cleaner is a better bet and also pressure checking the carb is worth doing.

 

Pressure and vac test is worth it, I had a 335 like this and found one of the crank seals had gone - bit involved replacing it!

 

Other than that - pull the muffler and check the piston is sound with no scoring - a compression check would be advisable as well.
