l200 wright off - what now?

Sounds like youve decided you want a defender!

As long as its a 'spare' its fine. I've had mine a few years now and it is a back up vehicle, we use it for winching, as a mobile platform and a soup kitchen in the cold weather.

Like all landies it needs a bit of TLC but it is great for towing. You should get something reasonable for 6k - I'd go for a solid 300tdi and avoid all the electronic gizmos of TD5s.

Remember -

80% of all landrovers ever built are still on the road,....

The other 20% have actually got to their destination.

Good luck

a good looked after 300tdi defender would be lovely, get it on a galv chassis and its perfect.

i have had 200 tdi and 300 tdi discos and now a td5 defender for last 5 years or so, only electronic trouble the td5 ever given was moisture problems setting off alarm. turned out to be water in interior lights and hey they are linked to alarm system so makes it cross.

get water issues sorted, replace interior lights at dirt cheap prices and bye bye electrical issues.

td5 is lovely work truck especially if chipped and on decent suspension like terrafirma heavy duty kit

L200 all the way!!! Mines on a p reg with 172k on the clock :) Keep it well serviced and dont kick it's arse and it just goes and goes and goes lol

I'm gonna get some laughs here but i'm replacing it when it get's to 200k and i'm thinking of going for a f150 4x4 manual with lpg conversion.

Do you reckon peter will do a pro tipper for one of them :)

LPG eh? I had a 4 litre Jeep converted and had the following problems.

1; The tank only holds 80% of its capacity so 100 litre tank only holds.....well you get the idea.

2;You can end up like a smack head driving round endlessly searching for LPG, make sure there are plenty of garages near you! Petrol at 12 to 15 mpg is cripplingly expensive!
