I keep asking my employer for some glasses as the visor does naff all.

Been told the visor is addequet! Not in my opinion.

Last employer supplied them no questions asked.

Well you only get one pair of eyes to last you all your life.

If my lads havn't got their own glasses i give them a pair, and after that if they're not wearing them,i want to know why.

I can't believe that NZ is actually ahead of the UK in terms of eye safety here. Most places I think now generally at the very least supply safety eye wear and several insist on it as part of PPE. Asplundh, Treescape, utilities and government depts all insist on eye wear as do several smaller Companies I know of. We no longer have visors but ALWAYS wear safety glasses. Saved my eyes on more than one occasion.

I don't think you are that far ahead the HSE stakes as it seems, most big companies insist on protective eyewear these days. Last year I was on a site where they threatened to boot you off if you took the glasses off, having said that they did issue some rather nifty Bolle Silium glasses. we still need visors for chipper work.
